Many of us are fortunate to have our grandparents close by the time that we are born. However, not many of us are that fortunate to have our grandparents around at the age of sixteen. I am one of them who lost my grandmother at the age of six. I can understand the situation in which to say goodbye is when we are bidding farewell to our loved one who has gone from this world. It is difficult to say goodbye to someone or something you love. It is a strain on the feeling and to those of us who feel and allow emotions to flow freely, there is a certain bitter sweetness when we say goodbye. Indeed, I have many precious memories with grandmother. My grandfather is a fish seller. My grandmother and my mother once use to help him to tend his stall. However, everything had changed when I came to this world. Instead of, looking after me, my mother chose to help my grandfather. While, grandmother took over the job from my mother. Since young, I had a weak immune system and I will fell sick easily. Then, grandmother will rack her brain to think of nutritious food that was suitable for me. She will cook the food for me. Grandmother was also the one who disciple and taught me to differate between right and wrong. Also, she was the one who taught me many moral values. Grandma never fail to fetch from school. Once, grandma had a bad flu but she still insisted to bring me to school and fetch from school. She always wait for me patiently outside the classroom. She was never late. Then, on our way back to the market, grandma shared her jokes with me. After going to my grandfather's stall, we will pass-by a toy stall. At the age of 3, i will always ask for toys. Grandma never failed to buy for me if i wanted. If mother was there, she definitely will not buy it. Over the years, her health got worsen.I was worried about my grandmother when I learnt that she had developed cancer. I visited her everyday at Singapore General Hospital and consoled her. She lost weight and looked sickly and drained. The chemotherapy had taken off her hair. It was heartbreaking to see her in so much pain. I used to watch her as she fell asleep and I wept silent tears at out plight. Sometimes, I cried to myself in my bed at night. After six months, grandmother succumbed to cancel. “Failure is the mother of success”. Grandmother never failed to say that when I encountered problems. From that, I had learnt that failures, setbacks, and problems are unavoidable in life. This kind of behavior is counterproductive to personal success however because failures are the stepping stones that get you across the river to the other side—to success. The more failures you have, the more stepping stones you will have to help you get across that river. Failures in and of themselves are not empowering though. Failures are a necessary part of life and they don’t take failures as a personal attack on their conscious, but instead, they extract the value or the lesson from those failures. Thank you , Grandma for what you had done from me. I appreciated that. Once again, thank you. i will always remeber me. This is my memories with her.Above mention was truth. Among 10 over cousins, she dotted me the most.Anyway, today is my grandma's death anniversary. As her beloved grandchild, i will never failed to pray her.Although,it was a bit rush after my swimming lessons. But i will never take that as an excuse not to pray her. I know that she is in another now, lively happily.( I will post more photos later on)
